Current Projects

  • Clinician Directory

Treatment for OCD can require specialised skills. That’s why we developed an online directory of mental health professionals in Australia who have a special interest in treating OCD.

  • A Model of Care for Paediatric OCD

University of New South Wales, Sydney Children's Hospital Network, Griffith University

We are testing a dynamic model of care for children and young people with OCD by integrating Prof Farrell’s OCD Busters treatment within the public mental health services of the Sydney Children’s Hospital Network and South-eastern Sydney Local Health District. This model provides advanced training and support for clinicians to better detect and treat OCD in community mental health care and prevent hospitalisations. This project is supported by funding from Mindgardens Neuroscience Network and the Sydney Children’s Hospital Foundation.

  • Clinician Needs Analysis

University of New South Wales, Sydney Children's Hospital Network, Griffith University

We are surveying clinicians to better understand their experience and competency of assessment and treatment of obsessive-compulsive and related disorders. We will use this to inform clinician training and supervision programs. This project is supported by funding from the Sydney Children’s Hospital Foundation.

  • Understanding Hospitalisations for Paediatric OCD

Sydney Children's Hospital Network, University of New South Wales, Griffith University

We are examining paediatric inpatient hospitalisations patterns for OCD to better understand referral pathways and patterns to prevent inpatient admissions and more effectively treat OCD in the community.

  • Screening and Diagnosing OCD in Routine Care

Sydney Children's Hospital Network, University of New South Wales, Griffith University

We are examining prevalence rates of OCD within paediatric community mental health settings and contributing psychometric evaluation data for screening and assessment measures. This will improve the utility of measures so that they are fit for purpose in routine clinical care settings. This project is supported by funding from Mindgardens Neuroscience Network and the Sydney Children’s Hospital Foundation.

  • Case Consultation and Supervision

Sydney Children's Hospital Network, University of New South Wales, Griffith University

We provide monthly case consultation, case discussions forums and group supervision to clinicians to ensure people with OCD receive best practice assessments and treatments.

  • Online Parent Training Program

Griffith University, Sydney Children's Hospital Network, University of New South Wales

We are trialling a nationwide early intervention online skills training program for parents of children 4-12 years old. The online program will directly train parents in exposure with response prevention, to improve and expedite access to treatment, removing treatment barriers that can prevent children from accessing evidence-based treatment for OCD. Supported by funding from the Australian Rotary Health (2023-2025).
